Time and again you, as a car driver, fall into situations in which you suddenly have to brake heavily: situations in which ABS can demonstrate its strengths. Here are a few examples:
|
|
 |
|
-
In urban traffic you are surprised when a vehicle in front
of you pulls without any warning out of a parking space and reverses into your lane. You must slam on the brakes immediately in order to avoid an accident.
- You are driving in the rush hour on a busy freeway. Ahead of unseen roadworks the traffic suddenly comes to a halt. You must slam on the brakes unexpectedly.
-
It's night time and it's raining; the road is wet. All of a
sudden the vehicle in front of you brakes drastically
without any warning. You have no choice but to initiate emergency braking.
- You are driving on a narrow mountain road. After a bend a broken-down vehicle suddenly appears in your lane. You must slam on the brakes immediately because you can't drive past the broken-down vehicle on account of the oncoming traffic.
